The NFL made some pretty significant rule changes

If a receiver is forced out of bounds, it's now an incomplete pass, unless he's lifted and physically carried out of bounds. No more judgement calls on a player bumped out as to whether he would have landed in bounds or not.

If a team wins the coin toss, they can defer - in other words, they can choose to kick off to start the game and receive at the beginning of the second half. This is more in line with how they do it in college.

Field goals and extra points are now subject to replay. Definitely a good thing.

A bad snap from the center that the QB doesn't touch is now a live ball. Before it was a false start and the play was whistled dead.

The five-yard incidental facemask penalty is eliminated. Good, it was stupid.

One defensive player can wear a comminication device on the field, similar to the ones QBs now use.

Apparently they discussed changing the playoff seeding arrangements, but decided against that.

I think I like all the rules changes. The only thing that surprises me is that there's no mention of changing the timeout rules, after some of the games that were affected by late timeout calls last season.

What say you?
