You have to think Balmer is starting before Franklin at DT/NT with the 3-4.

You have Justin Smith on one side and Sopoanga on the other as they did not pay him that much to be just a reserve NT. Plus, Niners have said they are moving him to the edge.

You have Manny Lawson, Patrick Willis, Brandon Moore or Banta-Cain, and one of the other many LBs they have now on the roster playing the 4th LB.

Perhaps Niners think that Ray McDonald, Ronald Fields, Jay Moore, Parys Haralson, etc. will step up and be that additional pass rusher for the team.

Otherwise, I want to see Jason Hill get a chance to play and with Delanie Walker and Vernon Davis, there will be lots of TEs lining up at WR spots.
