If they do go ahead with this plan to shift J.Smith outside to an edge rusher, and put McDonald at RDE, then we might as well call this darn thing a 4-3 defense.
Which is fine with me, I guess. We can't find a decent TED ILB (no Ulbrich, please) and we have a surplus of DLs waiting in the wings (Fields, Balmer, Oliver, Cohen, Ellison), so might as well give the 4-3 a shot. It just seems like the defense is quietly switching to a more traditional 4-3 without actually admitting it, lol.
