is that people try to give him a ceiling/floor. As in, "Alex Smith will be a mediocre, to crappy QB" or, "Alex Smith will be a B+/B Quarterback at best." I don't really see a ceiling or a floor for a dude as talented as he is physically. If he does start this year (which from all blog reports seems to be the case) I will probably give him until week 4, and if he continues to look just average, I hope we start Hill. I don't want average anymore, I expect better from our QB. If he can't do it, I hope we bring in Shaun Hill.
