49ers sign CB Smith

Buzz Up PrintSAN FRANCISCO (TICKER) â€"The San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday rookie cornerback Reggie Smith, their third-round draft pick this year.

Terms were not disclosed.

The 6-1, 200-pound Smith started 36 games in his career at Oklahoma - 20 at strong safety and 16 at cornerback. An All-Big 12 Conference first-teamer as a senior, Smith tallied three interceptions, 78 tackles and a 61-yard fumble return for a touchdown in 2007.

Smithâ€^TMs signing leaves only two of San Franciscoâ€^TMs six 2008 draft picks unsigned, including defensive tackle Kentwan Balmer, a first-round selection
