Just got back from the today's open practice (started at 4pm). I arrived at around 3:45 so I had seats at the far end of the field, but they were good seats because we got some great action. What I saw:

-Jason Hill was the most impressive WR out there (after BJohnson), he had two phenomenal catches on the 1 on 1 (WR vs DB) drills. One was a over the head double move which totally tricked the defender, and another was this diving catch.
-Shaun Hill just can't throw farther then 10-15 yards. It was depressing watching this dude try, because every time he did, it either floated, or it was behind the receiver. In the 11 on 11 drills (he was with the first team), he was pretty abysmal; he didn't even try throwing farther then 10 yards. He had three consecutive throws that should have been picked, only one was though. Horrible.
-Alex Smith was playing with the 2nd team (because he played with the first team in the morning practice) and he looked much better imo. He did hold onto the ball too long on one play, but his deep ball looked much better. I didn't get to see too much of him because he was on the other side of teh field most of the time.
-Nate Clements is BY FAR our best CB. Dude was amazing in the 1 on 1 drills. Completely shut down his guy.
-Frank Gore is so impressive to watch. He's just better then anyone on the field.
-Patrick Willis + Manny Lawson, didn't get to see too much of these guys (other side of the field).
- Shawntae Spencer/ Walt Harris - Played pretty poorly in the 1 on 1 drills. Definitely not as good as Nate Clements.
- Vernon Davis - Didn't get to see him too much, he was on the opposite side of the field most of the time. You can see that the dude is really working hard though just the way he plays.
- Isaac Bruce - The entire team is obviously really impressed with this guy because they just treat him differently then everyoen else on the field. He runs precise ass routes. Very ncie to see him on the field for us.
