Coach: Favre not in right mind-set to be part of teamTuesday offered a cinematic double feature for the 49ers. The players got to watch "The Dark Knight." Coaches, meanwhile, watched film of Monday's practice in Napa.
It's tough to say which of those has a more dramatic ending: The practice film could determine which quarterback starts the exhibition opener Friday against the Raiders.
Coach Mike Nolan said after practice Monday that the drills against the Raiders might â€" he stressed the word "might" â€" play the deciding role for Friday's starter. "That's all I can tell you right now,'' he said.
As usual, fairness is a factor. Nolan said the starter won't necessarily be the guy who performed best against the Raiders. "It might be someone who got slighted on the reps,'' he said.
A team spokesman warned against reading anything into the depth chart listed at 49ers.com. Even though it comes from the coaching staff, it's still classified as "unofficial."
The No. 2 quarterback is listed as Kyle Wright. The No. 1 quarterback is listed as everybody else: Alex Smith, Shaun Hill and J.T. O'Sullivan are crammed into the same starting spot.
In other depth-chart news, Moran Norris is listed as the starting fullback over Zak Keasey in one of training camp's closest battles.
Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson are the starting receivers, with Arnaz Battle listed behind Bruce and Jason Hill penciled in behind Johnson.

After the long day in Napa, the 49ers dialed it back Tuesday with just a short special-teams practice. Cornerback Tarell Brown (hand) and safety Dashon Goldson (strained arch) participated, a team spokesman said.
