Day 19: Nolan says JTO is the leader
Coach Mike Nolan acknowledged this morning on his KNBR radio show what had become obvious of the past week or so: J.T. O'Sullivan is leading the race to become the 49ers' starting quarterback.

When asked by morning show host Brian Murphy if O'Sullivan had the lead over Alex Smith and Shaun Hill for the starting job, Nolan answered, "At this point, yes."

Up to this point, Nolan had declined to say which quarterback had the lead. He has repeatedly said not to read anything into the fact that O'Sullivan has been taking most of the snaps with the No. 1 offense.

The team is out at practice this morning. An update will be coming in a couple hours.

Receivers Dominique Zeigler and Josh Morgan, both of whom were sick yesterday, are back at practice this morning. Jason Hill (groin), Bryant Johnson (hamstring) and Ashley Lelie (calf) are still out.
