Some part of me believes that Martz is testing Alex Smith:

- Martz comes in with his own QB, who has experience in his system.

- Martz then tells Alex that he needs to go through his progressions a lot faster as well as get rid of the ball.

- All of this leads me to believe that Martz wants to see Alex grow a pair. Even Martz himself said in his interview that he throws his QBs and all other offensive players into the fire during training camp and preseason. Whoever survives it gets to play.

- During the season, Martz becomes a teacher.

- So all of this may be a means to an end: either Alex Smith grows a pair and shows talent that his physical abilities seem to state he has, or basically, be a backup until he does get it.

All I can think of is Matt Hasselback, who started and sat over and over again until he got the message that he has the tools to succeed.

I dunno, I'm probably dead wrong.

In any case, I just want to team to succeed. I don't give a shiet who is the QB.
