My biggest concern is what you see is what you get with JT. This guy as I've said before aint leading any team to the promised land. He's got less physical talent than Garcia and Tim Rattay IMO. He's got "average" NFL QB stamped all over him. Problem is, Niners offense has sucked so bad over the past few years, average is looking awfully good to some. If in fact they dump Smith, they better have plans in the very near future to upgrade their starting QB, because JT's already 29 and has hit his stride. If they do dump Smith, and he develops into something pretty decent, Nolan and the Niners will have even more egg on their face. Figures when the Niners got the #1 pick overall, Smith and Rogers were the two best QBs in the lot - a real down draft for QBs that year.
