But really, the whole "oh my god, Alex is losing his job to a scrub" thing is being blown out of proportion. Alex Smith already hit rock-bottom last year. His value was near-zero. He suffered through a horrible o-coordinator, a horrible injury, and horrible management by the head coach. All this media hoopla and the drama and the controversy...is *so* last year. If anything, Alex's value is slowly creeping back up right now. The fact that he is even competing for a starting QB position in the NFL again, just a few months after all that mess, is a testament to his quick rehab and resilience.
As far as I'm concerned for the offense, it's all about Mike Martz. Whoever he wants playing QB is fine with me. I just hope that he hasn't been dealt a losing hand from the get-go.
