Personally, I am excited about the upcoming season. Us fans haven't had much to get excited about over the last few years. Some thoughts:

The offense has talent. We know Gore is a workhorse. Martz will figure out how to get him his touches. Davis and Walker are great options at TE and create some matchup problems.

For years, WR was a serious weakness. There are still question marks with this crew, but Jason Hill seems to have matured a bit, Morgan has shown incredible hands and toughness, Johnson still has the talent of a number one pick, and Bruce is probably better, even at 36, than any WR (except Antonio Bryant) in the last 4 years. And then there is Battle, who is still pretty solid and reliable.

The question marks on offense have been both the offensive coordinators' abilities to design plays and the QBs ability to get guys the ball. The first part is solved by Martz.

As for JTO, this may be his first start, but he is 29 and has played a lot of football. IMO, Smith has struggled with the little parts of playing QB, pocket presence, decision making, the things that don't necessarily have to do with throwing the ball. JTO has seemed pretty cool under pressure. We'll see if he can duplicate that in the regular season.

O line looks good. Very few sacks in the preseason. I think Larry Allen was done last year, he didn't have a good year. Looking for the o-line to duplicate 06.

D… the D looked pretty good the first two games of last season, guys like Willis and Lawson flying around the field. It's a solid group that just needs to gel. Still need that dominant pass rusher, but hopefully Smith, McDonald, Harrelson, and the whole LB crew can put some pressure on the QB. Not to mention guys like M Lewis, Clements, and Spencer who do a good job of blitzing.

Arizona had a poor preseason. Let's hope that continues and the Niners start the season on a high note.
