"One thing I'd like to ask people here....

Why were people willing to back Alex Smith for 3 years and 30 games.....and are calling for JTO's head after 7 games?"

Simple.

Some of us know this is not a good overall team and we will probably stay that way with Nolan as our head coach. We only want to win. That's all I want, I don't care how many touchdowns we score or how many great plays we have, I just want to win games. Some people seem to feel like Stats are the end all to this league, which I completely disagree with.

We can't afford a quarterback who constantly turns the ball over and makes crucial mistakes.

I look back the past 4 years of Nolan's tenure, and our best season was with Alex Smith as our Quarterback. We had 7 wins, and a, IMO, very impressive win for Alex at Denver to kick them out of the playoffs. His stats were pretty bad that game, but I could care less, he lead us down the field and won a game in OT.

We were 7-9 that year, and the next year we go 2-1 with Alex starting (and a horrible OC).

I saw that performance, and what I saw was someone winning even with horrible coaching. That's what the players have to do on this team because we will continue to have horrible coaching. Even the loss was, IMO, a very good game for Alex except for a couple drops by VD and a blown call by the Refs.

That's why I still back Alex and will do so until he is released or whatever happens.

I just want to win games, and I feel like Alex was becoming a player that could do so even with insufficient coaching.
