Orton is worthless if you have Cutler, you can sign a backup free agent easily.
Essentially you give up a #18, which could potentially be a great player, but could also be a bust, and is not even in the top half of the first round.
Then you give up a #1 next year, which is what we gave up for Joe Staley, who is a nice player, but no franchise quarterback. The Bears', with Cutler, 1st round pick in '10 will be worth much less.
And you flop a 3rd for a 5th, dropping two rounds, which to me seems not that big a deal, see Brandon Williams vs. Parys Haralson/Delanie Walker/Josh Morgan.
My point is, you give up what we've turned into basically such greats as Manny Lawson, Joe Staley and Brandon Williams for a proven franchise quarterback, the most valuable commodity in the game.
Seems like too much of a risk to pass up that trade.
Unless the Broncos make three very wise picks, I don't see how you can't favor the Bears in this trade. They're gonna be amazing with Cutler. Most teams that need a qb would see a dramatic change in their entire franchise with that guy. He's somebody you can build around for the next decade.
The Broncos didn't even get the chips to acquire Mark Sanchez.
Again, I really don't get it.
