He's got the physical tools, no doubt. Terrific arm strength, nice throwing motion (compact overhead delivery) and good accuracy. But there's something about him that's just a little off. He seems lethargic and uninterested. It's not about intelligence nor Wonderlic tests (although that is a bit disconcerting), it's just the way he carries himself. He seems pudgy and could be in much better shape.
And the unusual way he grips the ball (off-laces) is just weird, weird, weird. That can't be very secure in wet weather. And combined with his average hand size (9.5 inches), ball security might be an issue with Nate.
I was actually hoping the Niners would stay away from him (along with Mike Reilly). Oh well, at least it was only a 5th-rounder.
