I watched the entire thing and yeah, it's only the first pre-season game but...
Their first-string defense looks avg at best. Denver moved the ball pretty much at will. Niners had some good turnovers but 3 of the 4 pics were telegraphed really badly by their QBs. IMO, outside of Willis, Spikes and Smith, their entire starting unit is average at best. Bly is an upgrade over Harris, but Clements it the most overrated player on the team. He comes up with big plays now in then but he's a mediocre cover guy. Before his pic on that drive, he got burnt three different plays. I like Manny Lawson but he's got tweener stamped on him big time. If he could gain about 30 lbs, he could be playing a line postion, but right now, big tight ends can block him no problem and he's way overmatched against a lineman - I actually think his height hurts him because he can't stay low enough. Harylson is solid but not great. Also, Michael Lewis is too much linebacker, not enough safety. He gets burnt quite a bit too. He's not near fast enough. I like Reggie, he seems like he has a nose for the ball, and if Golstein could ever perform in a game like he does in practice, they could have something.
I think Gore, if healthy, is going to have a great year. Also Davis will finally break out. Problem is, as long as they have Smith/Hill going at it, the team will never get past the second round of the playoffs IMO. If you look over the last umpteen years, the only team that's won the super bowl with an "average" QB is the Ravens with Dilfer, and that's because they had an awesome defense. Assuming the goal is to win the super bowl, this team needs to keep pursing a stud QB. I'm surprised they didn't go after Sanchez, or at least try to make a bigger effort.
