Has more to do with the running game than the QBs.
Singletary wanted to believe the team could run no matter what. That definitely is not the case. Opponents have taken the run game away.
I think Singletary believed that if the team could run, it could win with Defense and Hill managing the game with short passes and screens.
But, with opponents completely taking the run game away, Hill didn't really have the ability to make teams pay. If anything, the threat of Smith throwing deep should open up the run game. At least, this is what I think Sing and co. think.
Anyway... on that short TD pass to Slaton after the muffed punt, didn't that lineman "tackle" Willis? I know there are no blocking in the back rules during non-returns and chop blocking is generally legal, but falling on the back of a players legs is an acceptable blocking technique?
On the final interception, did Smith get hit when he threw? Did he overthrow his target? or did he get hit a bit and underthrow the deeper man (the deeper guy was Davis, not sure who the underneath guy was)? Wondering if anyone got a good look. They didn't replay it at all on TV.
