I have to say this year's QB crop doesn't blow me away.
Locker looks like the best pro prospect, now that he's learned to be a passer and not just a runner. At least he played in a pro-style offense. Some durability issues but that's about my only concern with him.
Bradford is coming off a serious injury to his throwing shoulder and he was a system quarterback. His arm wasn't all that strong before the injury. Not sure we should hang the hopes of the franchise on him.
Clausen seems okay, but not all that exciting. He does everything okay but nothing great. Sometimes he seems like a really bright kid but he's had a couple off-field issues. Notre Dame hasn't been very impressive with him at quarterback, but you could blame that on coaching or the talent around him. I don't know what to make of him as a pro prospect.
Tebow and McCoy have both been good college QBs but it's hard to say if their talent will carry over to the NFL.
Mallet's only a sophomore; I'm not sure he'll declare, and if we did draft him, I wouldn't want to rush him onto the field. There are questions about his maturity, but he did have a tremendous season for Arkansas. Seems like a big risk, big possible reward selection.
I know you hate Alex Smith, but he'll probably be our starter next season at QB even if we draft a QB this year. I think we should draft a QB, but maybe not in the first round.
