If they extend Alex, then they are not thinking QB. If they don't, then he is not in the plans and will hit FA after 2010.
Personally, I think it pains Singletary to run that spread attack. He's doing it because it gives them the best chance now, but I don't doubt he'd like a more traditional QB to run the sets he wants.
