McNabb is clearly an upgrade over Smith. The Niners won't win a championship with either, so if that's your argument that's fine, but thinking Smith is better is lulz worthy.
As for the RFA: It's not just trading the tender level pick for the player, you have to pay him FA market value as well.
That's why something like signing Dumervil would be awful. Yeah he's pretty good, but not 10 million per year AND a first AND a third. That's just crazy. This is why ZERO restricted free agents changed teams last offseason.
I'd love to get Berry. Good safety play has become very important with all the great passing offenses out there.
Getting Spiller and Williams would be ok, I could see them doing that. I think Williams kinda sucks, but whatever, he could work out.
Getting TO would be horrible. I want no part of him. He didn't seem to act up last season, or maybe it was just that nobody gives a crap about Buffalo. He's not good enough anymore to justify putting up with his bullshit.
