Well, Round 1 has finally come and gone. The one thing we know more than anything is that the Oklahoma endowment should get a nice bump. Three Sooners off the board within the first four picks is remarkable, and says a lot for what Bob Stoops is working with down in Norman. Then there were the trades.

Once we got past the early action -- the mock was holding up just fine for a while -- the trades started to pile up. Some seemed to make sense -- teams moving up for players that they simply couldn't have gotten later -- and others that, frankly, puzzled. In at least one case, a team moved up for a player it seemed entirely possible would have been available later. Much later.

But it takes two teams to make a trade. If you can't get a guy at a certain spot, you have to call up the team in the next best position. Be sure to check out my look at how the second round could take shape, but read on for teams I think had a great first round, some picks I question, and three situations to keep an eye on early on the second day.

Three I liked

Seattle Seahawks
The picks: Russell Okung, Earl Thomas
Summary: It couldn't have lined up much better for the Seahawks, and for Pete Carroll in his first NFL draft in over a decade. Without trading, they landed the safest left tackle pick at No. 6 -- Okung is the perfect replacement for the great Walter Jones on the left side of that line -- and then they find Thomas waiting for them at No. 14. Some thought Seattle could take a defensive end with that second pick, but Thomas is a guy who many would have thought Philadelphia or Green Bay would have traded up for, and even after the Eagles trade up, they ended up taking Brandon Graham, leaving Thomas there for Seattle. Few players in the draft have the kind of instinctive, playmaking skills of Thomas. Bottom line: on a day when so many teams moved around to assure themselves of the guys they wanted, Seattle stood pat and still hit a home run.

Tennessee Titans
The pick: Derrick Morgan
Summary: Another team who stood patiently at their pick got rewarded. The Titans landed Morgan, the most complete player at his position in the entire draft. There was some sense that Tennessee would be debating whether to take a somewhat riskier need pick here, with Jason Pierre-Paul, but when the Giants pulled the trigger on the South Florida defensive end at No. 15, it cleared the way for Jeff Fisher's team to add a very safe pick, and a guy that fits their system beautifully. Tennessee's pick, while not creative, is again a case of a team staying patient and being rewarded.

Detroit Lions
The picks: Ndamukong Suh, Jahvid Best
Summary: It's hard not to get high marks when you add a player like Suh to the roster. This is a guy who should be a difference-maker from the first day he's put on the field, and with their offseason additions, the Lions now have a pretty formidable interior defensive line. I give them credit for not moving off this pick just because they did make those improvements. For a team with so many roster holes, to now be able to say they have a legitimate strength is big. Jim Schwartz has to be thrilled. I also like the move to get Best. While there's a chance Best would have still been there at No. 34, Detroit didn't destroy their draft by sliding up a few slot to get a back they coveted. Best augments the running game, should take some pressure off Matthew Stafford, and if he's healthy, could have every bit the career a guy like C.J. Spiller should have, but with better draft value.

A few others: I really liked Arizona staying patient and still getting Dan Williams. He fits their system perfectly, and could have gone much higher. I also liked the Jets adding depth at CB with a serious value addition in Kyle Wilson. Those who've played against him rave about his ability, and suddenly that Jets secondary looks even more impressive. Pittsburgh also made a nice pick in Maurkice Pouncey, and you have to hand it to San Fran, not messing around in adding a pair of potential Pro Bowl offensive lineman. Knowing this is a deep draft, you have to love the clout New England and Baltimore have headed into the second day with all those picks.

Three I question

Jacksonville Jaguars
The pick: Tyson Alualu
Summary: It'd be one thing if the Jaguars traded down for Alualu, but to take him at No. 10 just seems like a total panic move. You have to wonder if they had planned to take a guy like Spiller with that No. 10 pick, and then to see him come off the board at an odd spot may have caught them by surprise. Either way, any time you get a guy at No. 10 most thought would be around as late as No. 30, you're going to draw some questions. Alualu could be a good player, but Jacksonville may have sitll been able to get him -- and land somebody else as well -- by giving up that No. 10 pick. A true puzzler.

Washington Redskins
The pick: Trent Williams
Summary: I don't think Washington made a mistake, per se. In fact, I had them picking Williams as in my mock. My only question is whether they took the best guy, given their immediate needs. The Skins absolutely need to find an answer at left tackle, and they had a chance to take Okung with this pick, a guy most believe can step in from Day 1 and deliver. Williams spent time at right tackle for the Sooners, so he'll need to add polish on the left side if that's the plan for Mike Shanahan. In terms of talent, I think Williams is absolutely capable. But in terms of strategy, even trading down and adding a more polished left tackle could have been a consideration, given that Washington doesn't draft again until No. 103.

Denver Broncos
The picks: Demaryius Thomas, Tim Tebow
Summary: For starters, I give Denver all the credit in the world for the conviction they showed in getting Tebow. If you truly believe you have the QB of the future, you try to make it happen. That said, after what looked like an inspired move -- trading down yest still landing an impact WR in Thomas -- the level of potential talent the Broncos had to trade away with the three picks is pretty startling. You give up a second, third and fourth for a guy who needs a lot of work, and could benefit from maybe two-plus full years on the bench. Tebow could be a great success story, but those picks in a deep draft are a major haul.

A couple others: I realize I'm just another voice in the chorus, but if Oakland really wanted Rolando McClain this whole time, you have to wonder why they didn't try to move back a little bit. McClain could have very well been sitting there as late as No. 15, without even a promise that the Giants would have taken him. Brandon Graham is a fit in Philly. He could be a Defensive Rookie of the Year. I was surprised, however, that Philly moved to No. 13 to get him. Of course, you need a dance partner. It's not like every team is willing to accomodate your trade-up needs.

Three to watch

1. A pair of really good offensive tackles are still on the board, even after a pretty good run on the position. Keep an eye on Charles Brown and Rodger Saffold.

2. If Cleveland can still get Colt McCoy, it'll be impressive that they didn't have to move. Particularly after the bounty Denver paid for Tebow.

3. Some big-time athletes like Taylor Mays and Arrelious Benn should be gone early in Round 2. But don't overlook a much bigger athlete in Linval Joseph, a player who checks in over 320 pounds but could be a perfect end in a 3-4 because of his quickness.
