That's another terrible excuse. Since when does the WR MAKE the #1 overall pick? Shouldn't it be the other way around? The #1 overall pick should improve the appearance of his inferior WR's?

Who is Brett Favre throwing to?
Who is Joey Harrington throwing to last week?
Who is Donovan McNabb throwing to?
Who is Jeff Garcia throwing to?
Who the hell is Damon Huard throwing to?
Vince Young? Who's he throwing to?
Who is David Garrard throwing to?
Who is McNair/Boller throwing to?

All these guys are demonstrating the ability to move the ball up and down the field. Their record is equivalent to the 9ers record and the best reciever out of the aforementioned group of QB's is MAYBE 35 year old Joey Galloway.

The excuses for Alex Smith are a joke. He's showing NOTHING that makes him worthy of being a 1st round pick. I didn't say #1 overall, I meant a 1st round pick. he's not making this team better, he's not making plays, he's not making his WR's better.

He has a stud tightend that has to appeal to the coach just to get consistent looks. Alex checks down on more than 50% of his plays because he's too afraid to take a chance and make a throw. So many excuses that this hack enjoys and NONE of them are afforded to anyone else. He is the 2005 version of Joey Harrington. He'll be nothing better and when you guys stop making excuses, we can move on.
